About Us

Steven Michalski, founder and the Director of Redwood Learning Center, has been working with children with ASD and their families since 1990.  He received his training at the UCLA Clinic for the Behavioral Treatment of Children (renamed the Lovaas Institute for Early Intervention) and was mentored by O. Ivar Lovaas, Ph.D. and Tristram Smith, Ph.D. from May 1990 to December 1994.  During Steve's 18 years in practice, he has worked with individuals with ASD (ranging from 13 months to 18 years old) at all levels of functioning.  Currently, Steve is completing the coursework for an M.S. degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.



Dara Michalski, the Assistant Director of Redwood, received an M.S. degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.  Dara began working for Redwood in May 1998 and, prior to that, was the Assistant Director of The Early Childhood Intervention Center (ECIC) from June 1995 to May 1998.  Dara worked for a family, under the direction of the UCLA Clinic for the Behavioral Treatment of Children, in Vancouver, B.C., Canada from September 1994 to May 1995.
